Start or Sit Week 9 2009

Quarterback Start or Sit Week 9

  • Start Matt Hasselbeck SEA - Gets to stay at home and wait for the Lions and the 17 TD passes they have allowed this season.
  • Start Donovan McNabb PHI - McNabb at home on Sunday night.
  • Sit Ben Roethlisberger PIT - Broncos DF should make things very tough for Big Ben.
  • Sit Eli Manning NYG - Eli has become unstartable the past couple of weeks, and the Chargers clamp down on the passing attack. Avoid Eli again in Week 9.

Running Back Start or Sit Week 9

  • Start Ryan Moats HOU - 3 TDs and 150 yards on the ground in Week 8 replacing Steve Slaton. Moats may not be the lead back, but with bye weeks still in full-force, no one is hotter at the moment.
  • Start Brandon Jacobs NYG - The Bolts DF has been quite generous to rushers in '09. Jacobs looks to build off momentum of his last two contests.
  • Start Jamaal Charles KC - The heir-apparent to LJ should get his first start of the season in Jacksonville.
  • Sit Cadillac Williams TB - The Packers have allowed two rushing TDs this season - both to AP of the Vikings.
  • Sit Laurence Maroney NE - Maroney had two useful fantasy games in a row, but with the Patriots pass-first offense back from a week of rest, and Faulk, Green-Ellis and maybe Sammy Morris around, you can't trust any of them.
  • Sit Knowshon Moreno DEN - Faces yet another installment of the Steel Curtain and will be lucky to break 50 yards on the ground.

Wide Receiver Start or Sit Week 9

  • Start Malcolm Floyd SD - Elevated to starting unit with release of Chris Chambers.
  • Start Mike Sims-Walker JAX - Chiefs are very generous to opposing WRs, and Sims-Walker is a budding star that won't have too many stinkers in a row.
  • Start Michael Crabtree SF - You've used him the past two weeks if you own him, and have been content with the results. Game against Titans offers real chance for 100 yards and his first TD.
  • Sit Mohamed Massaquoi CLE - This #1 WR is barely worth a place on your bench with the state of the Browns QBs, offense, and front office.
  • Sit Eddie Royal DEN - Chance for a comeback has long since passed. Unless your league heavily rewards individual return yardage points, Royal has 0 value.
  • Sit Pierre Garcon IND - Garcon nowhere to be found, while Collie, Wayne, Addai and Clark thrive in the Colts offense.

Tight End Start or Sit Week 9

  • Start Fred Davis WAS - Chris Cooley is going to miss the next three weeks. Davis had 8 receptions for 78 yards and 1 TD in his first game of full-time work in Week 7 when Cooley got hurt.
  • Start Kellen Winslow TB - Nothing else may work for the Bucs this Sunday, but the Packer DF has given up 5TDs to TEs in '09. And Winslow still has a nose for the endzone.
  • Sit Heath Miller PIT - The Broncos have only allowed 20 receptions and 192 yards all season to opposing TEs. Miller may be targeted frequently still, but don't expect much production.
  • Sit Todd Heap BAL - Even with bye weeks you should have a better option on your bench or on waivers than Heap. Continues his fade into irrelevance.

Kicker Start or Sit Week 9

  • Start Olindo Mare SEA - Seahawks host the Lions in Week 9, and DET is the most generous DF against kickers in the league.
  • Start Josh Scobee JAX - Jaguars host the Chiefs, and KC is just as generous as its Motown buddies when it comes to helping out random fantasy kickers.
  • Sit Dan Carpenter MIA - Dolphins have to travel up to NE for what is potentially another bad-weather game. Pats clamp down on points allowed.
  • Sit John Carney NO - The Saints offense rarely stalls, and the few times it does, Carney usually blows the FG. Infrequent opportunities, and down-right terrible, over 30 yards.

Defense Start or Sit Week 9

  • Start Packers GB - TB starts rookie Josh Freeman in Week 9.
  • Start Colts IND - The Texans, in theory, should struggle with the loss of Owen Daniels and potential changes at the RB position.
  • Sit Chargers SD - The Bolts have been on a nice role, but the Giants are going to snap out of their funk eventually. Away game for Chargers in cold weather on the East Coast.
  • Sit Bears CHI - I just have a feeling that Warner lights up the Bears for some hefty numbers.
